2009, the Classic Vintage Weekend  Jan. 9^th -11^th

Adds Jr Classes 

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:  WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 18th 2008

Updates for classes at the 2009 Classic Vintage Weekend; in an ongoing effort to build and sustain vintage racing, the Derby this year will add two new junior classes. There will be one class for juniors ages 13-15 and one class for juniors age 16-17. Sleds eligible for competition in these two classes will be; 0-340 cc, Single Fan Mod; Super Stock F/A; Super Stock Fan; or Super Stock L/C.

We at the Derby Track believe this move will foster engagement of the youth of vintage racing families and begin a building block of future vintage competitors. Depending upon participation this year, talk is already underway to add a third junior class for next year of 10-12 year olds on more restricted class sleds. We are getting this information out early so vintage racers and future vintage racers have time to prepare for this year.

After review of last years classes and entries the Derby Track has made the decision to drop one class for the 2009 event. These class is Super Mod 800 L/C.
